Efficient energy storage technologies are vital in the current efforts towards decarbonisation. Batteries, as one of most versatile electrochemical systems, have potential to shape transition from climate crisis scenario a carbon neutral and sustainable future. In particular, metal–air batteries gaining scientific industrial interest promising contenders ubiquitous lithium-ion batteries. The electrolyte plays critical role it determines battery performance, its safety operating lifespan. low-density, ease processing, good thermal stability, mechanically stiff but ductile character, electrically insulating properties tailor-made chemistry make polymers singularly interesting be applied separator/liquid pair, gel-electrolytes or solid-electrolytes.
